Dr. Harvey Alan Bass

Doctor of Optometry

Dr. Bass Graduated from Tuxedo Shaftesbury High School (Winnipeg) in 1977. He studied science at the University of Manitoba for two years and was then accepted into the University of Waterloo (Ontario) School of Optometry. He was granted his Doctorate in Optometry in 1983. Upon graduating he took on a position with the then New Brunswick Association of Optometrists Mobile Vision program whose purpose was to travel from school to school in the province examining grade one children. In the summer the program visited all the nursing homes in the province with the assistance of Optometry students. He went on to the position of program director and later chairperson of the board of directors of the program.

Since then, he has been active in several communities with practices in Perth-Andover, Plaster Rock, Woodstock, Florenceville-Bristol, and Grand Falls. He has served on the Board of Directors of The Hotel Dieu of Saint Joseph Hospital Board (Perth-Andover), the Victoria Glen Manor (Perth-Andover) and the Conservation Council of New Brunswick. He is a former member and past president of The Rotary Club of Perth-Andover and past president of the Florenceville Rotary Club. Currently, he is the past president of the New Brunswick Association of Optometrists, and one of two Optometrists on the Indigenous Services Canada Vision Care Working Group. He now operates a full-service Optometry clinic in Grand Falls. He also has gone to Guatemala on a humanitarian project, and most recent, has provided donated equipment to the HO Teaching hospital in Ghana for use in their vision care clinic.

On the personal side, he has four wonderful children and three beautiful granddaughters.

Kelsey Bouchard Savoie

Optometric Assistant / Office Coordinator

Kelsey was born in Miramichi, New Brunswick, and moved to Grand Falls as a child, where she grew up alongside her two sisters. After graduating from high school in 2014, she furthered her education by completing a course in Business Management, which helped build a strong foundation for her organizational and leadership skills.

She joined our team in 2018 and has been bringing her bright energy and enthusiasm to the office ever since. In 2019, Kelsey completed her Optometric Assistant course, adding to her growing expertise in eye care.

Known as a true “jack of all trades,” Kelsey takes on a wide variety of roles — from assisting patients with a smile to managing bookkeeping and keeping the office running smoothly. Her bubbly personality, creativity, and caring nature make her a joy to be around for both patients and colleagues alike.

Outside of work, Kelsey is a proud mom to one wonderful son, who inspires her every day to stay determined, positive, and full of heart. She loves spending time outdoors — whether she’s gardening, boating, or out for a ride on the side-by-side — always finding joy and relaxation in nature.

Kaylee Michaud

Optometric Assistant / Front Office Coordinator

Born and raised in Grand Falls, N.B., alongside her younger brother, Kaylee brings both heart and creativity to our team. With a lifelong passion for music and art, she has proudly participated in numerous fundraising and volunteer events throughout the community.

After earning her high school diploma in 2019, Kaylee continued her studies at St. Thomas University. She later completed her Optometric Assistance course in 2024,further enhancing her knowledge and skills in the field of eye care. Before joining our team, she also gained valuable experience in customer care, developing strong communication and administrative abilities.

Kaylee’s outgoing and bubbly personality makes her a perfect fit for our team. She’ll be happy to assist you with scheduling, billing and insurance claims, and helping our patients with pre-testing procedures

Mélanie Ruest

Patient Care / Optometric Assistant

Mélanie Ruest was born and raised in Saint-André, NB. Mélanie followed the health care path, studying nursing for 4 years, then she became a Medical laboratory assistant and worked with the Vitalité Health Network for 4 years. She then became a registered Optometric Assistant. Mélanie likes to help others, it is one of her goals. Being a mother, she loves spending her time with her family, as it is her first priority.

Nicole Leclerc

Reception / Administrative Coordinator

Nicole Leclerc, born in Grand Falls and now residing in New Denmark, is a dedicated and personable professional with a strong background in customer service and healthcare. Known for her welcoming demeanor and always-present smile, Nicole excels at building rapport and creating positive experiences for those around her.

She has spent the majority of her career in customer service, developing strong communication and problem-solving skills, and has four years of experience in the medical field, where she honed her expertise in patient care and professional service. Nicole is a fast learner who thrives in dynamic, people-oriented environments and enjoys engaging with others in meaningful ways.

Outside of her professional life, Nicole is passionate about spending quality time with her family and children, caring for animals, and embracing the country lifestyle. Her approachable and energetic personality makes her a valued presence both personally and professionally.
